Know !
Below
are some of our patients' Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). If you
still have questions, please feel welcome to Contact
Dr. Ascha.
What procedure should I get and will there
be a scar?
There are a variety of procedures for women with different types of
breast conditions and four typical entry sites. All implants are saline.
Dr. Ascha works carefully and with great skill to minimize scarring.
The areola is a common entry site, because its location and color tend
to exhibit the least noticeable scarring. Please see the Procedures
page for details.
Where is the surgery done, and how long do I have
to stay in the hospital?
Most
of Dr. Ascha's procedures are done in his in-office surgical suite,
where the latest state-of-the-art equipment and staff assure your comfort
and safety, offering
you the comfort and reassurance of full hospital staff support, including
an anesthesiologist. Dr. Ascha's surgery center is fully acctredited
by the AAAHC. Most procedures take
about an hour.
Need I do anything special ahead of time?
There are a few sensible precautions for you to take before the procedure.
You must not take aspirin or aspirin related compounds for two weeks
prior to the procedure, as these compounds cause a needless increase
in bleeding. Dr. Ascha strongly suggests that you refrain from smoking
during the same two week period. Also, you must not eat or drink anything
after midnight the night before.
Do I need to take medication after and how long
must I stay home from work?
If you have the procedure done on a Friday, you may be able to return
to work the following Monday with minimal discomfort. After your surgical
procedure you may experience moderate pain, but you get suitable medication
for relief. You also take antibiotics for 10 days to prevent possible
infections.
Is there anything special I have to do after my
breast enhancement?
For three days after the surgery, you must take sponge bath only--NO
showers. As soon as you can tolerate it, you should massage your breasts
to prevent capsule formation and undue breast hardness. Dr. Ascha explain
this massage in detail. For three weeks, you must sleep on your back.
Some women find a pillow on each side and one under the knees help.
How many post surgical check ups do I get?
You have as many post surgical checkups as you and Dr. Ascha feel are
necessary for up to three months or longer, at no additional fee.
Can I still breast feed later, if I get a breast
implant now?
Yes.
Does breast surgery cause cancer?
Breast implants are not known to cause cancer.
